My boys share a room and they LOVE cars! So, they wanted some cars on their wall. This is what I came up with.

I decided to add a little something custom to make them feel special seeing their names up on the wall. So, I put their names in a made up company name on the side of the semi-trucks.

When you order your own, you will get to customize the sayings on both the semi-trucks.

Some custom ideas could include your child's first or last name:

- Jensen and Son's

- Anderson Plumbing

- Carter's Furniture

- Parker Landscaping

- etc...

The pictures above used only 4 colors, but when ordering, you will be able to choose up to 5 colors!! You will also be able to choose your own custom fonts for the custom sayings.

Valentines Words of Love

I've been thinking all month of something fun you can do for your special someone for Valentines Day and here is what I came up with...

Words of Love to place around your home!

I designed a package with enough words/sayings to cover an entire home and make them feel loved all day!

The best part about vinyl is you can put in on almost ANY surface and then just peel it off when you are done with it! And it's weather and waterproof, so you can put it in the shower, and all over your loved ones car!

The package also comes with one CUSTOM SAYING for you to be able to customize a personal message between you and your loved one! For my husband, I made "I love you" in Russian, because he speaks Russian. :)

Here is the list of sayings that come in this package. The dimensions range from 5"x2" to 12"x9".

Here are some fun ideas of ways you can use these decals:

-You're my sugar: place on a plate with a special sweet treat, or on your sugar jar where they will get their morning coffee.

- You make me smile: place near your loved ones favorite picture of yourself

- You turn me on: place near a light switch or on an electronic such as a laptop or tv.

- You light up my life: place near or on a lamp or near a light switch.

Vinyl Installation 1

I'm going to be doing a series of blog posts about different techniques for installing vinyl. So, check back to keep yourself informed, then when you are hanging some vinyl of your own, you will be an expert!

VINYL INSTALLATION 1

Hang it Straight and Aligned

Step 1: fold back a small section of the backing on one of the sides (in this case I did the top). This way you can stick the vinyl to the wall, but still be able to remove it and move it around as needed.

Step 2: Use a level to put against a straight line to make sure it is level. If the vinyl is off a bit, put your level down, hold down one of the ends with your finger, peel the rest off the wall and slightly turn it (whichever way you need to go), attach it to the wall again and check it with the level. Repeat as many times as necessary to get it level.

When attaching make sure you follow my dry application instructions and leave it attached, lift up, peel the backing away, and apply rest of vinyl to the wall in a steady swipe of your hand.

*HINT* If you are hanging a saying or design and have no distinct straight line to follow, make one yourself. Use a ruler and mark with a pencil a straight line on top of the masking. Find some part of the design or saying that is a straight line. If using a saying, follow the bottom of one of the lines (see below). Now you have a guide to go off of. You can also make one going vertically as well to follow.

Step 3: Now what can get really tricky is when you need to attach multiple items that need to be not only level, but level with each other. After attaching your first piece, you will do the same step process with the next pieces on the same horizontal plane.

When checking to see if the second is matching up with the first. You will partially attach it (step 1), and place your level on top of the top straight line of each piece. If it will remain touching and level with both pieces, it is ready to attach.

*ALSO* You may also draw a line on your wall with a pencil to follow. You will simply put your level where you want it, make sure it is level and then draw a line following the top of the level. Now you will only need to line your vinyl top up with the line on the wall.

Step 4: Attach the vinyl by keeping the top attached, peeling the backing away and sticking the vinyl down to the wall with a steady swipe of the hand.

Step 5: If you are attaching your next piece on top and want the sides lined up instead of the tops. You will follow make a line straight up from the bottom one with your level like listed in the end of Step 3. You will line up your vinyl (this time my backing is peeled slightly away on the side of the vinyl so that it will stick to the wall. Make sure it is level and as high/low as you would like it.

Step 6: Attach the vinyl by keeping the top attached, peeling the backing away and sticking the vinyl down to the wall with a steady swipe of the hand.

With this particular design shown you will need to do this with 6 different pieces, but depending on your design, you might get to do it a few less :)

Hopefully this helps give you a few ideas on how to make your vinyl straight next time you will be installing it.

New Under Stair Space- FIREHOUSE

One of my good friends Brandy's mom contacted me about an under the stair space she wanted decorated for her grandkids. And, what would be more perfect than a Firestation!? It was really fun for me, because she let me do whatever I wanted!!! So, this is the design I came up with.

It was so much fun and made me want to do more fun stair spaces, so if anyone has one I can practice on, PLEASE call me!

The nice thing about this design, is it should fit most spaces, wether you have a square entrance, a different size arch, or even a door. You can make this work with any space. You can customize anything you need about this package so it will work for you space perfectly. You can can get more bricks, you can get the crest, the dalmatian, and the station title different sizes. Just let me know.

I thought of the dalmatian last minute and he is my FAVORITE part! He is just so cute! I love how he turned out. Normally you wouldn't be able to see white very well against a wall that was so light, but you can see him great when you put him in front of the bricks. You could also put him inside the firehouse if you wanted more decor in there as well.

Also, you can order him mirrored so he'd be facing the right if you wanted to.

The Firefighter Crest was so much fun to create! I thought it was going to be really hard to assemble, considering you had to put the red color on top of the black and line it up perfectly, but my worker bee, Kelsey, did an amazing job!

I thought it would be cute to do some title plaques inside the space. So, we printed them custom with the children's names and a hook underneath to (pretend) hang up all your firemen gear. You could hang real hooks if you had some cute dress-ups to hang on the hooks and forget about the vinyl ones.

You can get up to 7 plaque/hooks with your order. The different titles include:

Big Machines- Small Version Now Available

I've had up a listing for my big machines for about 3 months now, and it has now become my most popular item on Etsy!

It is available in a LARGE or a SMALL version. The large package ones are W19” x H13” and comes with 3. The small package ones are W8"x H5.5" and comes with all 6.

The only problem I've been having is that my customers can't visualize the small ones. So, I decided to print some out and take pictures of them so hopefully you all can get a better idea on what they look like smaller.

The small package comes with all 6 designs in your choice of color(s). You can get each machine in a different color if desired.

My Front Door Halloween Decorations

This year, I was feeling like my usual halloween decor was pretty boring! So, I took my super cool, Creepy Halloween Tree and shrunk it to fit my door!

We then designed some fun faces for our pumpkins. If you are like me and like to use your pumpkins for not only your Halloween decor, but your Thanksgiving as well, this is a great way for you to do that. Once Halloween is over, the vinyl peels right off and you now have beautiful pumpkins! Carving them doesn't really work out that well for reuse.

My boys LOVED picking out their own faces, and I even let the oldest one put them on himself. The left one is my 2 year olds and the right one is my 5 year olds. He did a pretty good job! I never would have thought to do two small triangles for the nose. That was all him!

Here's a few other options.

Here is what comes in the kit, plus about 20 different sized triangles, and 9 different eyebrow styles. There is enough here to decorate at least 12 pumpkins!

Creepy Halloween Rats!

My house just wasn't spooky enough this year! So, I created some awesomely creepy rats for you to put around your floors to surprise your friends! :)

My favorite place to put them in on my stair walls. I like that they look like they are actually walking on the carpet here. I suppose I could have put them on my baseboards instead of above them, but I didn't really think about it until just now! Oops!

The sheet is $15.00 and comes with 15 rats. There are some with their tails straight and down and some with it up in the air. 1/2 are facing the right and 1/2 are facing the left.

New Etsy Item- Big Machine Squares

In the process of decorating my boys playroom, I asked them what they would want to put on the walls, and Colt said "A helicopter!" and Ayden said "A digger!" So, I came up with some big machine squares.

These are the only 3 I ended up using, but I did them so big, that you don't need much more than that!

They were pretty stoked to use the awesome car track I set up to take pics! But honestly, they have to show everyone who comes over their new playroom wall pictures. They are so proud!

Sad to say Colton's helicopter didn't make it on the wall, I printed it in white and you couldn't see it very well on the blue wall. So, I'll have to find somewhere else to put it in my house.

They can be ordered in two sizes, small or large. The large squares are W19"xH13" and the small squares are W8"xH5.5". If you order the SMALL package you get all 6 squares in any color you want. If you want the LARGE package, you will get any 3 of your choosing in any color you want.

New Western Scene & Cactus

I created a new item! I feel like it's been forever since I've done something new! So, here is a fun Country Western Scene, that I think would be cute in any cabin, or cute cowboy(girl)'s room!

It comes with a fence with a lasso draped over it, a pair of super chic cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat!

The cactus is also new, and can be found here.

The Country Western Scene comes with 3 different color choices. You get to choose a color for the fence and lasso, one for the boots, and one for the hat.

Personally, I want to see this in a cute girls room, so bad! With a cute pink hat or pink boots! Oh, I hope so!

Etched Glass

Sorry, I've been MIA for the summer. I've started a new graphic design business- Snickerplum and it is taking up my life. But, I'm finally starting to figure out how to keep time for both, so you will hear more from me in the future.

I've had a few customers ask me for more details on the etched glass vinyl. So, I thought I'd share the info with you all.

Here are a few samples of the REAL etched glass:

The benefits to doing the REAL etched glass, is you can add a lot more detail, dimension, and shading.

The DOWN side to REAL etched glass is, it's PERMANENT! As in, forever! If it is a place of business, and you are renting, you will have to pay for new glass when you are done. If it is your home, it can be either a major selling point, or a big downer.

This is where Etched Glass Vinyl comes in to help! When applying the vinyl to the mirror or glass, it gives it the same effect, without being permanent! You can still have something beautiful, even if it is temporary!

Below are a few ways I experimented with the vinyl:

You can do small designs for things like champagne glasses. I've done a few custom designs for customers for weddings that had a design, along with the Bride and Groom's names and the date they got married. I would have loved to see how they turned out, so I tried on myself to see. I love the idea! And might have to do something for Etsy!

They type of etched glass vinyl I have is the silver corse etched glass. So, it has a slight silver tint to it and it is corse, so it gives it the feel of real etched glass.

When putting the etched glass vinyl on a wall it will vary in appearance depending on the color of the wall. On a white or off-white wall it will look more silver than clear.

I tried it on my blue wall, and it appeared slightly blue and silver. Then, I noticed that it changed, depending on the angle I was looking at it. Straight on it was the lightest, and as I moved to the side it got darker and blended in more.

At one point I got to the side and it almost disappeared completely! I love it! It is so unique! And, I love how subtle it is! I do have to say, it is very hard to take pictures of and capture the exact appearance.

The nice thing about the etched glass vinyl, is you can order any of my designs in this vinyl, but the down side is it is slightly more expensive. The price doesn't effect the time that goes into the cost, just the actual cost of vinyl. So, the increase will depend on the item ordered and how much vinyl is used. If you are interested, just contact me for more info, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hopefully this helps you get an idea of what it's like and how awesome and versatile it is!

Starry Designs

I have a random habit of giving a custom vinyl design as baby shower gifts. My favorite part about giving the gift is to see those who aren't quite sure what vinyl is, or what I can do with it, and are unsure what they think about the gift. :)

Thankfully, I'm pretty sure they all end up happy customers and are glad I gave this gift to them. Either that or they are pretty good actors! ;)

Here is a nursery for a baby girl, with hot pink, brown and lime green as the colors and a star theme. I tried a few different collages of stars, and they were pretty boring! So, I saw somewhere a circle created out of smaller circles and got the idea of making a star out of smaller stars. They turned out cute, but it was still a little too starry. So, I decided to try some other shapes using stars, and I love how they turned out!

The large star comes custom with your own name choice.

I then practiced the design in my own boys bathroom and loved it! So, you don't need to use the large star if you don't want to.

NEW Swirly Girly Leaning Tree

Here is one of my newest creations. Thanks to a cute friend of mine with amazing taste, she came up with an idea for a tree with swirls leaning over her crib. This is what she got...

It turned out super cute, and that was before Mikki got her hands on it and upped the cuteness 10 more notches!

Aren't the flowers amazing! I wonder how many hours she spent on that! But, personally, it's totally worth it! And, notice the birds hanging from the ceiling... ADORABLE!

Her style is very shabby chic and this nursery is fit for a princess!

She didn't need the tall trunk with the beadboard and chair rail, so she just cut it off. Here is a picture of the whole design and how it comes when ordered.

3 Firsts for me today...

Today was a day of firsts!!! And, here they are...

1- Today was the first time in a 24 hr period I've had 3 orders of the SAME item! I've had 2 before and even over a week span I've had 3, but literally all 3 were within 24 hrs! CRAZY!

2- I had my first order from the Netherlands! Now, it's not the farthest place I've shipped to, but still, something new :)

3- I had my first order for a GIRL dragon! I know, sounds crazy, but there are girls out there that like dragons, and it turned out to be a pretty cute girl dragon. I wish I could show you the final work of it on the wall... but in all honesty, I wish I could see a lot of the final works once applied to walls. I'll just dream about it, and hope that's good enough.

You would never guess by the colors of my garbage, that I did 3 dragons this day :)

(I guess the easter scene I did, would account for most of those colors)

What a week!

My first RED ladybugs!

I've probably processed about 20ish ladybug orders, and this was the first time I've ever done red and black ladybugs!!! Crazy hu?! I've done all shades of pink & purple, and even yellow. But, never red!

I must say though... they sure are cute in red! I'm assuming most orders are for pink, because my example is in pink. Guess I better post an example of a true ladybug.

Little Foot Preschool

My sister has had a Preschool in her home for her first two years, but at the beginning of this year, her third year, she was able to finish and dedicate her whole basement to her Preschool. I was lucky enough to do some vinyl for her and help her decorate.

Her art room has a jungle theme. It is darling! She has a Gerald the Giraffe on the wall next to the bathroom, a Elephant on the wall by the closet, and we did a large and two small Gator in the Grass down in front of the window. (Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of these )

Then, we made a cork display board for the kids to hang their artwork from, covered the edges with a Jungle Vine and then hung the Hanging Jungle Monkey.

I designed a frame for the monkey to be holding and we attached a sheet of metal to make a magnet board for the 'art of the week'.

The other room is the 'dramatic play' room. There is a cute kitchenette in there, and this super cute vanity, complete with make up brushes and perfume! She has some awesome dress-ups and we thought the Eiffel Tower would complete the girly feel of that side of the room. And, sure enough, the girls LOVE it!

We did a cute Dr. Seuss quote by the reading area.

Mrs. Melissa had said that this year they were going to have a '100 Club' and when the kids can count to 100, they get to be in the club! This would be their biggest goal and achievement for the year. We decided to feature this goal, and do a race track with each kid having their own individual race cars. As they progress counting, their car progresses on the track as well.

The kids are so excited to show their parents where their cars are and show them their improvement.

The numbers were a pain, spacing them, and having to put each number on one at a time, because of the curve. I can't decide if this is an item that would be re-sellable, I could do the cars in vinyl as well and we could do it without the numbers. I might have to come up with something similar. Any ideas, or know if something like this is even in demand?

Palm Paradise

I had an old friend contact me via Facebook the other day wanting to know if I could create something for her son's bedroom. He had set in his mind exactly what he wanted. He wanted his walls ocean blue and he wanted to draw an island with palm trees on the walls himself. So awesome!! Of course his mom wasn't too keen on that idea, so she contacted me :) Of course we all know how kids are, when they are set on something...

So, here is his finished palm tree.

I added a little distressing to the island to make it look like sand. I was a little unsure how it was going to look, but I loved it in the end.

I'm very biased, but I think it turned out amazing! Of course, I'm terrified to find out if he likes it! My 4 year old tells me almost everyday "No mom, not that way!" So, Jana, let me know :)

Gerald the Giraffe

Isn't Gerald cute?! My sister had me design him for her preschool and I'm so glad I did!

I'm in love with his cute skinny legs!

He can be ordered in a single color or a multi-color. The multi-color one will already have all the spots assembled, so the installation for the purchaser will be as easy as the single colored. I will do all the extra work!

Project above how to:

- Cut wood to different shapes and sizes

- Paint Black (or any other color)

- Measure front side of pieces and cut cute paper 1" smaller in width and height.

- Cover with cute square vinyl pieces, measured 1/2" larger in width and height than paper and 1/2" smaller in width and height than blocks.

The fun thing about this project is that you can do any range of colors and sayings for almost any holiday or home decor. Examples: a childs name, Happy Holidays, Family, etc...

Sometimes vinyl can get a little boring with home decor, because it is always one solid color. But, this way, you can have the paper underneath add some interest and personality.

Just Married Sign-2

Here is a picture of another Just Married sign I did for a wedding. It's nothing fancy, but the flowers matched the flowers from her invite, so it worked out perfect for them.

Man, I get so off during the holidays. YES- That is my excuse!

New 'Just Married' signs...

I started making some Just Married signs for the couples cars when getting married. They are so much fun to do! I'll put pictures of the other ones up, once I get demonstrations of them, but here is the first one I did for my friend Randi's wedding. She loves it so much, I'm pretty sure she still has it on her car! That's the nice thing about these... it's so cute, you'll actually want to show off you are a newlywed instead of heading straight to the car wash to wash off the toilet paper and hand written soap messages. :)

And, if anyone has something custom they want, let me know and I'll be glad to do it!

So, my cute Grandma gave me this idea. Isn't she great?! I LOVE how it turned out!

Sadly, I think I have more holiday decor for Halloween than any other holiday, and that's including Christmas. Now that this is up, I guess it's time to bust out the rest of the Halloween decorations. YAY!

Dragon's and Fairytales Bookstore

I had the opportunity like a year ago to decorate a new store in Eagle Mountain with some vinyl. It was one of the funnest and hardest projects I've ever done!! But, nevertheless I loved it and would do it again. It is a bookstore called Dragons and Fairytales, (which I think is the coolest name, by the way) and so, obviously, they wanted the vinyl to match the name.

We ended up doing a Dragon right in the center of the wall when you walk in, and a Castle along the top of a bookshelf that was almost 10 feet wide! It was HUGE! Here's some pics.

The castle ended up being 17 very large pieces, so I made a scaled down version to sell on Etsy. The smaller one is 60"w x 32" h and only 4 pieces.

I have to say, I'm in love with the dragon and how great it turned out!!! I decided that not everyone would want it multi-colored, so I sell it 3 different ways on Etsy.

Maybe it's just me... the mother of almost 3 BOYS! But, I LOVE boys rooms! It seems like there are sooo many more options. You don't have to stick with flowers, birds, and pinks and purples. So, if anyone has a boys room you want me to practice on, I have some cute stuff I need to demo... hint, hint.

So, I got a look at Cole's room before doing the vinyl and it's all boy! Just look at his bedspread and it will tell you all about it. So, I was very excited to make him some cool silhouettes to go on the wall.

Probably my favorite ending result for this room, is that his mom put them on canvas' instead of directly on the wall! This way, not only can she take them with her if she moves, but, they look so much more define and noticeable. Sometimes, if you don't have an entire wall graphic, the vinyl can look dwarfed and out of place in the center of a huge wall. So, I would highly recommend this process when using your vinyl.

Biker 1- I love all the detail on this one and I'm so happy with how he turned out!

Skater- I LOVE his watch! Can you see it now? I was a little nervous that the board would just end up looking like a blob, but it ended up good.

Biker 2- Not my favorite. I might have to get rid of his pads, and fatten up the front of the bike... What do you guys think?

TIP FOR MOUNTING VINYL: What Cole's mom ended up doing was she took a canvas and spray painted it silver. For some reason, the vinyl wasn't too happy to stick to the painted material, or maybe just the fact that it was material in general. So, I would suggest, if you want to mount your vinyl, to use wood. I know from experience that vinyl LOVES sticking to wood, painted or not and has no issues. I've also noted that metal, glass, and tiles work just as well.

Newest Project...

So, I wanted to do a fun gift for one of my friends for her baby shower... but, I didn't know what her nursery looked like or what she wanted. So, after getting a picture of her comforter for the crib, I knew instantly what I wanted to do.

So, I first did a 'dry fit', so you can see where you want it, and how to angle it. This way, you can change it as much as you want before it's hung and too late. :) I guess you could say I've learned from my mistakes.

And here is the finished product! I absolutely LOVE the ladybugs and loved how they turned out! I also gave her like 8 extra ladybugs to hang around the room. I'm excited for her to finish decorating the room and to go in and get some pictures of the complete-complete project.

I'm so glad Laura was willing to let me play on her walls and create something beautiful. Hopefully her new baby girl loves it as much as we did :)
